The official four-group framework
The official game description splits the 15-grimoire roster into four groups by how you obtain them: the grimoires everyone starts with, the pool you grow into, the lucky low-chance pulls and the rarest few. This comes straight from the official description, so it is the one part of any tier list that is fully verified.

Check the grimoire count before trusting a tier list
A wave of older guides ranks a 12-grimoire roster. The official count is 15 since the Mercury, Star and Time additions (official description, verified October 3, 2026). A list that only ranks 12 books is describing an older version of the game.
- 12-grimoire tier lists predate the current roster — they are missing Mercury, Star and Time, and this page quarantines them as outdated.
- The verified count is 15, split 3 / 6 / 2 / 4 across the Starting, Mid, Lucky and Rarest groups.
- Some community lists use a six-rarity axis (Common up to Mythic). That is their own labeling scheme — a difference in wording, not a conflict with the official four groups.
Grimoire strength questions, answered honestly
Each answer anchors on the official group first, then adds the attributed community take where one exists. Where nothing verified exists, the answer says so.
Is the Star grimoire good?+
Star sits in the official Rarest group — one of the hardest grimoires to obtain. The September 2026 community rankings give Star no placement of its own, so there is no verified strength verdict yet. Some players repeat that a Star rework is planned; that is single-source community talk, so treat only the official Discord announcements as reliable.
Is the Dark grimoire good?+
Dark belongs to the official Lucky group — a low-chance pull. In the community ranking dated September 13, 2026 (Faceless, as circulated on aggregator wikis), Dark places inside the top four. That is a dated community opinion, not a verified rating.
Is the Mercury grimoire good?+
Mercury is in the official Mid group — part of the pool you grow into — and is one of the three grimoires the official description calls newly added. The September 2026 community rankings do not cover Mercury individually, so this page carries no placement for it.
Is the World Tree grimoire good?+
World Tree is in the official Lucky group. In the September 13, 2026 community ranking (Faceless), it lands just behind the top trio of Light, Anti-Magic and Dark — an attributed opinion snapshot, nothing more.
